Leatt: CrankJoy.com reviews Leatt's DBX 4.0 Windblock Glove:

These gloves may not be cholla proof, but they do offer features and technology that would impress even Inspector Gadget.

If you’re not in the enduro, DH or moto world, chances are you may not have heard of this company. Leatt is hugely popular in those segments for their protective gear namely neck braces. Along with a new line of packs (review coming soon) these gloves caught my eye with their protruding impact protective knuckles and fingers that look like something out of Mad Max.

Usage: Upper 30’s to 50’s degree weather where you need some added protection, or you might punch things.

There are a few reasons why I love these gloves. At the top of the list is definitely no velcro closure, comfort and ultra thin palm material. I hate velcro on my gloves, in fact I don’t use the velcro on gloves after I find a comfortable position with the closure. The velcro wrecks clothes when you put them in the laundry and is a feature I consider unnecessary and sometimes uncomfortable.

The Armourgel impact protection and windproof uppers are also notable features. Armourgel on the knuckles and 3rd and 4th fingers offer impact protection in the right places. This is the same type of protection that we’re seeing in knee and elbow guards that absorbs impact very well. The windproof uppers have kept my digits warm even on days with the windchill started in the 20’s.

The amazing thing about these gloves is that all these features have been packed into a glove that looks and feels like a summer glove. The dexterity of the touch screen optimized fingers and thin palms help to cover up the fact that this is a cool weather glove.

I’ve ridden with these gloves comfortably in as low as 30 degrees and up to upper 50’s. Construction appears to be very durable despite minimal palm material. I haven’t noticed any signs of wear after around 30-40 rides. Sizing seems true to size.
